last weekend my hubby and i headed up to the orpheum theater in LA to listen to our favorite girl, Missy Higgins. Lenka opened for her and so did a guy name Justin Nozuka. you might recognize this song from the radio or vh1. he was AMAZING...like the most talented singer I have heard in a really long time. Check out the song below...seriously so good. all of his songs were good. you can listen to the whole album on his myspace page. oh and did i mention that he is only 20 years old? yeah. amazing. we didnt get to hear Lenka because we were late, but her stuff is really good so check it out. if you are not a fan of Missy Higgins, do yourself a favor and become one. she was absolutely fabulous/talented/funny/very entertaining.

So I have always loved growth charts for the little ones. Its just a cute, fun way to mark your childs growth through out the years, and looks so cute hanging in their room. Well I came across this adorable one from Bold&Noble Etsy shop. I think this is by far one of the cutest I have seen! I love it! Might have to get me one.
it seems that the double stroller dilemma is becoming more and more common now that my friends are having more kids. lately i have seen many bloggers inquiring about good double strollers. my second baby is 4 1/2 months old and i still haven't buckled down to buy one. (i still push my son in our bugaboo and carry my little girl in the ergo...side note, the ergo is the BEST baby carrier around but i will save that for another post!) anyway, i saw this prototype on one of our favorite parenting blogs, daddytypes, and i might just hold out until may to see what its like. from what i can tell, it might be exactly what i have been looking for! its like a double bugaboo!!

I got this book for Christmas and loved reading the interview with Lauren Hutton.“We have to be able to grow up. Our wrinkles are our medals of the passage of life. They are what we have been through and who we want to be. I don't think I will ever cut my face, because once I cut it, I'll never know where I've been.” 
I love all the tips, I took a Mac class last year in L.A and learned way more from this book then the 3 hour class

I think this is a great Grandma gift. Fill it with pictures of your little ones.( in there Christmas p.j's on the first page)
¾ c shortening
1 C. sugar
¼ c. molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c flour
½ tsp. cloves
½ tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
Melt shortening –let cool
Add sugar, molasses, and egg…beat well.
Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt.
Add to mixture. Mix well. AndChill.
Form dough into 1” balls and roll in sugar
Place on greased cookie sheets 2” apart
375 degrees for 8-10 mins.
I listen to this while making my Christmas cards, its a must!

I cant express how much I love this book. The first thing I want to say to someone when I meet them is "What color are you?" Take the test here. It helped me see better ways to communicate with a white(my husband). I was also happy that in the book it said a white and yellow are a great match-phew!

Lee and I went with the Bunker's to Cuba Libre for his 30th birthday and when Mel mentioned how wonderful the mango butter was, the waiter offered to write down the recipe!
Lucky us, and lucky you- here is the recipe.
CUBA LIBRE'S MANGO BUTTER
2 lbs. Softened Butter
6 oz. Mango Puree
1/3 C. Sugar
2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
2 tsp. Black Pepper
(I would add a little salt to taste)
Serve with toasted cuban bread if available, or with a THINLY sliced baguette or a mild white bread, toasted. Serve the butter like a dip.

i saw these ralph lauren crib shoes at kitson kids and i haven't been able to stop thinking about them since. they are the cutest little baby girl shoes i have ever laid my eyes on! they also had them in a blue color and orange. absolutely darling if you ask me.

To all the hair stylists out there, I highly recommend Shades EQ. For toning blondes, its my absolute fav. { On rissas hair nan use 2 parts 9G and 1 part 9AA} apply to towel dryed hair and leave on for 20 minutes.
My eyes were opened to a whole new world of breakfast items when I ordered this at a classy little place called Classic Diner. Now we make this at home when I'm feeling ambitious. Your hubby will worship the ground you walk on when he tastes this. If you have kids and they are picky eaters (like mine), just give them a poached egg, a piece of toast with butter and jam, and two pieces of the asparagus. We all win.
Eggs Benedict with Crab and Asparagus
Hollandaise Sauce
1 cup best quality unsalted butter
2 large egg yolks
1 1/2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
freshly ground white pepper
the rest
4 large eggs
1 bunch of asparagus
texas toast
1 can of real crab meat (costco or trader joe's)
snipped fresh chives
Bring 2 inches of water to a simmer in a medium pan and fill a large saute pan with high sides with water and bring to a boil.
To make the hollandaise sauce, melt butter. Set aside. In the top of a double boiler (I just use a metal bowl on top of the pan) combine egg yolks, water, and lemon juice. Set top pan (or bowl) over, but not touching, barely simmering water. Using a balloon whisk, begin whisking as soon as the yolks are over the heat, and whisk constantly until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Remove the top pan and continue whisking away from the heat to cool slightly, about 1 minute.
Slowly drizzle the butter into the yolk mixture with one hand while continuing to whisk with the other until all the butter is absorbed, then whisk in the salt and a pinch of white pepper. Cover the pan and set aside while you poach the eggs.
To poach the eggs, add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the boiling water. Turn off the heat. Poach only 2 or 3 eggs at a time. Break each egg into a saucer and gently slide the egg into the water just below the surface. Cover and let stand for 3 minutes for runny yolks or 5 minutes for set yolks. Transfer the eggs to a covered dish, bring the water back to a boil, and repeat.
Steam Asparagus in a steam bag while poaching eggs.
Toast texas toast and plate.
Lay asparagus in a single layer over two pieces of toast. Warm crab meat in microwave and layer over asparagus. Place one egg over each piece of toast, slather in delicious hollandaise sauce, and sprinkle with chives. Dig in.
Makes 2 servings

The amazingly engineered balance board you stand on measures and records your weight loss progress, your BMI, and Im sure its helpful in sharpening certain aspects of yoga. I know it is not a one stop place for exercise, but it looks fun. Anyone have it?? Because I so want it.

I know a good tooth brush and this is my favorite. The Oral-B pulsar gives you the feel of an electric without spending $100. I actually love it so much more than my electric. It's gentle, but still does an amazing job on my teeth. Try it, you'll love it.
This months challenge is the Best! One of my guilty pleasures is a bean and cheese burrito with green sauce from Del taco with a extra large side of green sauce. Last week I felt like being kind and paying for the person behind me. I felt so great the rest of the day by only paying like 4 dollars.
