i came across this ruffle pillow tutorial during my morning google reader feed. i love it. you could do this on just about anything. bedspreads, curtains, table cloths, whatever you pretty little heart desires. the best part is that it looks fairly simple.

when we lived in NYC, i used to make my husband go to this store on saturday afternoons just to look at all of the pretty things. then i found out i was having baby #2 and that it would be a girl. i wanted something from here so badly, but talked myself out of it because it is so impractical and NOT cheap. i still enjoy looking at their lovely lineup of clothing, and someday i will become a better seamstress and sew these sweet little things for my scarlett. until then, i will just browse their website. check out bonpoint for a sweet treat of french clothing. while on the topic of french, have any of you seen stephmodo's french abode? i am living through her. someday not only will i buy french clothing for my children, but i will buy them while living in france(or maybe just in my dreams). while doing my study abroad in paris we lived in this lovely little town just a 20 minute train ride from paris, and i would LOVE to have a house there...someday...someday.

I saw a special screening last night of Julie and Julia, a new movie about Julia Child and Julie Powell, the blogger who built her career on a tribute to the gourmet matriarch. I loved the movie, but I also love cooking. There is no question that her cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" is going to be flying off the shelves. I already told my mom I wanted it for my birthday. I hope a trend will be born from this movie that reignites an intrist to great cooking!

I have driven by Eva's Caribbean Kitchen on PCH in Laguna Beach hundreds of times and it always looked so cute and inviting! So my friend and I went in the other night for appetizer's and dessert! It was so adorable with all the candle's and cool decorations and the food was amazing! You have to try the peach cobbler!!

last weekend my hubby and i headed up to the orpheum theater in LA to listen to our favorite girl, Missy Higgins. Lenka opened for her and so did a guy name Justin Nozuka. you might recognize this song from the radio or vh1. he was AMAZING...like the most talented singer I have heard in a really long time. Check out the song below...seriously so good. all of his songs were good. you can listen to the whole album on his myspace page. oh and did i mention that he is only 20 years old? yeah. amazing. we didnt get to hear Lenka because we were late, but her stuff is really good so check it out. if you are not a fan of Missy Higgins, do yourself a favor and become one. she was absolutely fabulous/talented/funny/very entertaining.

i was looking through this months "real simple" magazine and there is a section on organization. (i love how they use everyday items as organization problem solvers). if you are anything like me, you are a sucker for organizational stores such as the container store. well this website is also amazing and has some really cool things to help you get organized. i especially liked this hair care organizer that you can nail on the inside of your cabinet.

So I have always loved growth charts for the little ones. Its just a cute, fun way to mark your childs growth through out the years, and looks so cute hanging in their room. Well I came across this adorable one from Bold&Noble Etsy shop. I think this is by far one of the cutest I have seen! I love it! Might have to get me one.

double stroller dilemma

it seems that the double stroller dilemma is becoming more and more common now that my friends are having more kids. lately i have seen many bloggers inquiring about good double strollers. my second baby is 4 1/2 months old and i still haven't buckled down to buy one. (i still push my son in our bugaboo and carry my little girl in the ergo...side note, the ergo is the BEST baby carrier around but i will save that for another post!) anyway, i saw this prototype on one of our favorite parenting blogs, daddytypes, and i might just hold out until may to see what its like. from what i can tell, it might be exactly what i have been looking for! its like a double bugaboo!!

1. The City (not the hills): is pretty much really stupid BUT it is about 3 beautiful, THIN and extremely well dress girls so its fun to watch!

2. Ugly Betty: The fashion alone is just over the top fantastic. Also its just a good show with a good life lessons ( seriously!) and very entertaining!

3. Gossip Girl: I dont even know where to begin..... DRAMA, FASHION, LOVE, LUST... basically just the best show on t.v.!!!

molasses sugar cookies

¾ c shortening 1 C. sugar ¼ c. molasses 1 egg 2 tsp. baking soda 2 c flour ½ tsp. cloves ½ tsp ginger 1 tsp cinnamon ½ tsp salt Melt shortening –let cool Add sugar, molasses, and egg…beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Add to mixture. Mix well. AndChill. Form dough into 1” balls and roll in sugar Place on greased cookie sheets 2” apart 375 degrees for 8-10 mins.

I love this shoot of Zach and Vanessa! It shows how adding a studded belt to a dress or blouse can spruce up your style and make an outfit so adorable!

I am so not a fan of Lauren Conrad but this outfit is just killer. This is another example of how throwing a little punk in with a classic pant and girlie shirt can be so great. Not to mention those pants are amazingly flattering and I love them! PS... Random side note.... if you live by a ZARA get to it immediately because they have amazing things right now!

Cuba Libre's Mango Butter and Cuban Bread

Lee and I went with the Bunker's to Cuba Libre for his 30th birthday and when Mel mentioned how wonderful the mango butter was, the waiter offered to write down the recipe!

Lucky us, and lucky you- here is the recipe.

CUBA LIBRE'S MANGO BUTTER

2 lbs. Softened Butter
6 oz. Mango Puree
1/3 C. Sugar
2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
2 tsp. Black Pepper
(I would add a little salt to taste)

Serve with toasted cuban bread if available, or with a THINLY sliced baguette or a mild white bread, toasted. Serve the butter like a dip.

I started using this because my skin was getting little bumps and it was in bad shape. My friend Tiffany who is a esthetician got me sold on step 1 and 2 cleansers from the corrective line. I noticed a drastic change immediately.. Its cheap too!

So my husbands grandma is a phenomenal cook, and we had hot fudge sundays just about every night- hey it was vacation..don't judge!

• 3 Cups of sugar
• 2 TBSP coco
• 1 C corn syrup
• 1 stick of butter -yep that's right one stick
• add vanilla creamer used for coffee to the consistency you want
• let boil for about i min.
